Progressive companies not only monitor and evaluate progress on their strategic plans, but they are also prepared to make changes – like creating a new business unit – to achieve key business objectives. LCH Relations co-facilitated a two-day session with senior executives and operations managers to lead them through this very important work.

Lisa co-facilitated a two-day session with senior executives and operations leaders with a focus on a strategic plan refresh and the creation of a new business unit. Participants indicated that key outcomes were achieved—these included an overall road map, commitment/ownership of actions identified during the sessions, message development, consensus on issues and their resolution as well as a strategy around the new business unit. Key to these outcomes was the support indicated by participants for decisions made and actions arising from the sessions. Additionally, most participants indicated a feeling of collaboration, being a part of the team and a desire to help the organization achieve its vision. Research, scoping and design work, session facilitation and the follow-up report were completed within approximately three weeks to meet the quick turnaround required by the client.

“A challenging journey but promising in terms of the outcomes and direction for the ISCC in its work in support of our collective work with newcomers. Thank you. A worthwhile two-day experience.

Organizations are most successful when they celebrate diversity in all forms – culture and ways of thinking and working. With a highly collaborative working model that truly celebrates diversity, it was my job to help this organization draw connections and progress their path forward.

Lisa created a communications strategy and detailed communications timeline for this organization. She conducted key research activities including interviews with members of the Council. She analyzed these results and successfully worked with the Council to establish key messages for the organization, determine the key issues facing the organization and make recommendations on communication approaches that would address these issues. Facilitating workshops to build consensus around key messages, issues and communication approaches, Lisa also co-facilitated strategy planning sessions and created their subsequent Strategic Report. She recently facilitated a strategy refresh session with members of the Council.

“Lisa is able to develop pragmatic solutions to problems and to maintain a focus on results. She works well in a changing environment and adapts and responds well to shifts in priorities.” Cheryl Knight, Executive Director and CEO, Petroleum Human Resources Council

The Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada:

Some strategies are more ambitious than others. The Council needed an outreach strategy to help the oil and gas industry to better attract, recruit and retain employees, especially those from under-represented pools of labour such as immigrants, women, and Aboriginal peoples. LCH Relations delivered and worked closely with Council staff and consultants, as well as with an industry steering committee.

"Lisa is professional, strategic and timely with her clients. I've always appreciated her knowledge and the level of expertise she has to offer. The energy she has while working is contagious and inspires positive results for her clients."

Corporate change

It is said that the only constant is change. I worked with four corporations in the oil and gas, utilities and transportation sectors that needed to manage specific technologic changes that would significantly impact employees and customers. In all cases, facilitated information gathering was required to truly understand the perspectives, the concerns, the questions and the needs of those being impacted by the changes. This work set the stage for identifying training needs, fine-tuning technologies, as well as for the resulting communication plans to successfully roll-out the changes.

Board Leadership

The challenges of Boards are many and the ability to facilitate high performing groups is crucial. Ownership and involvement are critical as is helping these groups to see the common vision and goals. As a past national president of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) who served in every role at the local member society and on the national board, I understand the challenges and important opportunities for boards to have significant impacts. I helped guide the Society towards a new governance structure, worked with the Board to improve membership services, and worked with the national office to significantly improve the organization’s financial position. As president of CPRS-Calgary, I was proud to be part of the Calgary member society when we won the Lectern Award for Canada in 1999.

"Lisa is a brilliant, focused and very articulated PR professional, and a straight shooter. I have had the privilege of working with her during more than five years on the National Board of CPRS and I have always appreciated her commitment to get things done properly, and her respect and open mind for her colleagues' point of view. And she likes to take on new challenges and always delivers... even in a triathlon.” Daniel Granger, President ACJ Communication
